In 2013 Roberto Soldado joined Spurs for a £26 million transfer fee. This was a time when Daniel Levy (club chairman) had the money from Gareth Bale’s transfer to Real Madrid burning a hole in his pocket.

Soldado had 59 goals in La Liga the preceding few years. At Spurs he managed an anemic 7 goals in 2 years, and will mostly be remembered at White Hart Lane for a series of impressive misses from close range.
