Liverpool suffer huge title blow after Merseyside derby defeat

Liverpool have suffered a huge blow in their Premier League title bid after losing 2-0 to their closest rivals at Goodison Park.

Going into the match, Liverpool knew that anything but a victory would be devastating for their title chances.

The hosts came in swinging after the back of a 2-0 victory against relegation rivals Nottingham Forest.

Everton started off the better side and eventually got their first in the 27th minute thanks to defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

Everton’s second came in the second half and it was Dominic Calvert-Lewin who netted in the 58th minute.

The dismal defeat for Liverpool now leaves them three points behind Arsenal having played 34 games making the title seem even further away.
