Former Manchester United striker to make professional tennis debut with veteran Coria.

Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlán is set to make his professional tennis debut next month in his native Uruguay.

Forlán will participate in the Uruguay Open in Montevideo, which is an ATP Doubles Event and will play alongside Argentine Federico Coria.

Unlike the former Red Devils star, Coria is a veteran Tennis player and has featured in the four major Grand Slams.

Though he has never won one a Grand Slam, he has six ATP Challenger Singles and one double title in his cabinet.

Forlán has always loved tennis, having played it at the Carrasco Lawn Tennis Club in his teen years, making his foray into the sport after a successful football career not shocking.

He has been competing in the ITF Masters professional tennis tour since 2023 and in June 2024 got the limelight when he reached the quarterfinal of the MT1000 Lima 45+ tournament in Peru, winning three matches in straight sets.
