The ‘Seasiders’ who currently compete in the Northern Premier League East Division, were formed in 1920 carrying a huge history.

Pete Smurthwaite, took over in 2004, with the club facing more than £130,000 of debt.

Mr Smurthwaite said: “I’m losing the energy to run a club at this level – it’s quite a high standard and it’s just incredible how much work goes into it.

“For the first time, I’m looking after myself, I’m not getting younger and I’m ready for a change,”

The chairman, 74, described the club as ‘debt-free’ and in a ‘good’ financial situation.

The prospective buyer for the club will take on the leasehold of Queensgate Stadium which boasts of a 2,800 capacity.

The club occupies a very well maintained stadium. There is a detached, licensed bar with a function room and multi screen TVs, and a large terrace looking onto the stadium.

Back in 2018, the chairman said: “I would put a sale price of £125,000.00 for the club which would be exceptional value for money.”
