According to recent reports by Spanish news outlet Sport, Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is set to leave the club in the summer to join Barcelona.
The 32-year-old midfielder is out of contract in the summer, and it’s reported that he wants to leave the Premier League champions.

Gundogan has been a key figure in Manchester City’s midfield since joining the club in 2016 from Borussia Dortmund. He has been instrumental in the team’s success over the years, and he was a significant contributor to their recent 21/22 Premier League triumph, scoring two goals on the final day against Aston Villa.
He has made 37 appearances this season, scoring four goals and providing four assists.
It is more than likely that Barcelona will offer Gundogan a two-year deal at Spotify Camp Nou but both parties will need to agree on wages.
The midfielder will fit straight into Barca manager Xavi’s plans as he likes a player who can drive with the ball and create opportunities, making lots of space on the pitch.
Contact between Barca and Gundogan has been going on for months and negotiations are progressing at a good pace.
It also appears that Ilkay’s wife has become ‘fed up’ with life in England and would relish a move away, especially to a hot country like Spain.
It would be a fantastic signing for Barcelona, especially on a free!
