Sunderland fans were left feeling hard done by yesterday evening (19th October) when they were denied what they believed to be a clear-cut penalty against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood park.
To make matters worse, Rovers would go 1-0 up through a sensational strike from Brereton Diaz JUST 21 SECONDS after Sunderland’s penalty claim was denied!

The EFL Championship does not employ the use of VAR, so the raging debate as to whether a penalty should have been given is forced to be made upon game footage and eye witness account – all of which of course has created a wealth of opinion in regards to whether referee Craig Pawson’s decision was the correct one.
