Saudi Arabia are intensifying plans to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, including building two mouth-watering stadiums.
The Gulf country are planning to host the tournament for the first time in their history and are leaving no stone unturned.
Saudi Arabia plans to construct 11 new stadiums for the competition, potentially marking the most expensive sports construction project ever.
The most noteworthy will be located in the planned city of Neom with the stadium set to be above 350m above ground level.
This structure will be accessible only by driverless vehicles and high-speed elevators.
Neom, a city under development in the desert, will span 106 miles and consist of parallel skyscrapers.
The stadium will offer stunning views and a roof integrated with the city. Neom’s transport system will feature a network of tram-like Autonomous Rapid Transit vehicles and Personal Rapid Transit on five elevated corridors, facilitating efficient movement within the city.
Among the most notable designs is another, 45000-seat stadium which will be built into a cliff edge in Riyadh, featuring futuristic LED panels.
Unlike Neom, Riyadh is a more prominent city, the capital of the Middle Eastern country and the habitat of Saudi Pro-League defending champions Al-Hilal.
Currently, Saudi Arabia is the sole bidder for the 2034 World Cup and is likely to get the nod to host the competition.
Saudi Arabia have spent a lot of fortune in recent years with the most notable achievement being the country’s club sides being able to attract the interest of superstars Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Sadio Mane and a host of others.
