Ashley Young AGREES to join Everton, will have medical on Thursday

Ashley Young, the experienced free agent, is set to join Everton after leaving Aston Villa earlier this summer.

The 38-year-old full-back is scheduled to undergo a medical on Tuesday before finalizing the move.

Young’s contract with Villa Park had expired, and he had been in talks with other clubs, including Luton, while there was also reported interest from Saudi Arabia.

Having enjoyed a successful career, Young has played over 700 career games for club and country, including 32 appearances for Villa last season.

During his time at Manchester United, he clinched both the Premier League and FA Cup titles.

He also tasted success with Inter Milan, winning the Serie A title. Known for his versatility, Young has transitioned from a winger to a defender and has demonstrated his ability to adapt to different roles on the pitch.

Young’s signing would mark Everton’s first acquisition since Sean Dyche took charge as manager. Dyche, formerly the boss of Burnley, took over Everton in January, replacing the sacked Frank Lampard.

Under Dyche’s leadership, the club narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the previous Premier League season.
