Arsenal begin talks with Youri Tielemans over £50m deal

Arsenal have reportedly begun talks with Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to sources speaking to Football Insider.

The Belgian international has attracted interest from a number of other clubs including Newcastle United and Barcelona, but it appears that the Gunners are the first to make a move for the 25-year-old.

Tielemans has been a standout performer for Leicester since joining the club from Monaco in 2019, following a successful loan spell.

He has made 29 appearances for the Foxes so far this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist.

However, he is currently sidelined with an ankle injury picked up during a clash with Arsenal in February and was absent from the squad for Leicester’s recent defeat to Aston Villa.

It’s no surprise that Tielemans has attracted interest from other clubs, given his impressive performances for Leicester in recent seasons.

His technical ability, vision, and range of passing make him an attractive prospect for any team in need of midfield reinforcements.

Newcastle United are also reportedly interested in Tielemans, as they look to strengthen their squad following a difficult campaign.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are also said to be monitoring the situation, with the Catalan giants always on the lookout for top-quality midfielders.

Despite being linked with a move to Liverpool, it appears that Tielemans may not fit Jurgen Klopp’s requirements.

According to reports, the Liverpool recruitment team have deemed the Belgian “not mobile enough” for their midfield. However, this has not deterred other clubs from pursuing him.

It seems that Tielemans is a man in demand, with several top clubs vying for his signature.

Leicester will no doubt be keen to keep hold of him, but if a suitable offer comes in, they may be forced to consider their options.
