Manchester City star Phil Foden, stole the spotlight on Monday night after securing a memorable hat-trick against Brentford, contributing to City’s come-from-behind victory in the Premier League.

However, it wasn’t just his on-field performance that captured attention; it was the unveiling of his new ‘Sniper’ celebration that had fans talking.

Foden recently shared the playful origin of this celebration, shedding light on the camaraderie and banter within the Etihad Stadium locker room.

Foden’s stellar performance against Brentford showcased his footballing prowess, with goals on either side of halftime securing a crucial win for Manchester City.

This victory propelled City within two points of league leaders Liverpool, with a game in hand that could potentially see them clinch the top spot.

Amidst the celebration of Foden’s hat-trick heroics, the spotlight shifted to his unique goal celebration – the ‘Sniper.’

In an interview with Manchester City’s official media channels, Foden revealed that this distinctive celebration emerged from the banter he shares with his teammates during small-sided training matches.

According to Foden, his teammates affectionately dubbed him ‘The Sniper’ due to his tendency to take numerous shots in these training games.

The banter reached new heights when a sniper emblem mysteriously appeared on Foden’s locker at the training ground.

Embracing the humour, Foden decided to showcase the ‘Sniper’ celebration during his stellar performance against Brentford.

In his own words, Foden explained the origin of the celebration, stating, “It’s a bit of banter I have with the lads, they say I shoot a lot in the five-a-side games, they call me ‘The Sniper.’

So, I thought I had to pull it out today, even when I arrived at the training ground and there’s a sniper on my locker now.”

Foden’s remarkable goal-scoring form this season places him third in Manchester City’s top-scorer charts, having found the back of the net on 14 occasions.

Additionally, he shares the title of joint-leading assist provider alongside Julian Alvarez, underlining his growing influence in both scoring and creating opportunities for his team.

With Manchester City poised to face relegation-threatened Everton in their upcoming fixture, Foden could seize another golden opportunity to enhance his impressive goal and assist tallies.

As one of the standout performers of the season, Foden continues to be a vital asset for City as they pursue glory on multiple fronts.
