It has been reported that Man United may be facing a max exodus ‘staff walkout’ following the recent handling of court cases concerning Mason Greenwood and Antony.
Reports have come in that many staff at the club are unhappy with the way the two players’ situations have been handled by the club, after United Chief Executive Richard Arnold held “no-holds barred” staff meetings in light of the recent allegations against their forwards.
Greenwood was accused of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in October of last year.
The United forward denied all allegations, and as of February this year had all charges against him dropped.
Brazlilian winger, Antony, was in September this year also accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend and took a month away from the club with full pay whilst aiding investigations into the accusation.
He returned at the beginning of this month to train with the first team once again and is expected to make a match return imminently after denying all allegations against him.
The Mail have now reported that staff at Man United have expressed a clear displeasure at the way things were handled by the club concerning the two players’ cases – with a common belief amongst staff that Mason Greenwood would be returning to action following his case being closed.
Instead, United sent the 21-year-old forward on a season-long loan to Getafe following uproar on social media concerning the allegations against him.
Many staff within the club believe that this was a ‘U-turn’ decision made only in light of the backlash from the general public concerning the issue of what to do with Greenwood.
It has been reported that morale within the ranks of Man United’s 1000s of staff members has dropped significantly, and that a mass exodus and a ‘staff walkout’ may come as a result.
It is said that during one of Richard Arnold’s staff meetings, the dissatisfaction of staff was ‘abundantly clear’ with reports emerging that many are looking for alternative employment as a result of the recent fiascos that the club have faced.
All of this comes at a time of strife for those involved with the club, having seen their worst start in 34 years in the Premier League, combined with the ongoing Glazers situation, and back-to-back allegations against Greenwood and Antony.
Whether or not the club are able to turn staff morale and their Premier League season around, remains to be seen.
