Each year, the Barclays Premier League awards a player of outstanding merit the Player of the Season award – decided by a combination of fan votes and a panel of adjudicators.
Some notable winners of this prestigious award include Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer, Michael Owen, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Kevin De Bruyne – and that’s naming just a few!
The first ever Player of the Season award was granted to Alan Shearer in the 1994/1995 season, following his remarkable 34 goal contribution to Blackburn Rover’s first English top flight title since 1914!.
