The bizarre revelation about Núñez, Rice in the Premier League this season

Statistic from whoscored.com has revealed that Liverpool’s Darwin Núñez has made more tackles than Declan Rice in the Premier League this season.

Núñez has made nine tackles this term, while Rice has only registered seven despite the former starting just one game, as opposed to the Gunners midfielder, who has started every game he has been in the matchday squad.

Rice joined Arsenal last summer from West Ham United with a club-record fee and was one of the most outstanding players for the North London side. in the last campaign.

However, like the rest of his colleagues, he hasn’t been able to build on that momentum this term. His form has also contributed to Mikel Arteta’s side having to play catch-up with Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title.

The England international got his first career red card in August during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion at the Emirates, and his sending-off contributed to the Gunners dropping points in the fixture.

Similarly, Núñez hasn’t had the best start to the season, starting just one Premier League game and has found the back of the net once.

Arne Slot has preferred Diogo Jota over him, but the Portuguese forward suffered an injury in last weekend’s clash with Chelsea at Anfield, and the Uruguayan striker could now get a run of games as the Reds first-choice striker.

Núñez has been a divisive figure since moving to Anfield due to his indecisiveness in front of goal which has affected his chances of nailing a starting berth.
