Ever fancied owning a football club? Well now is your chance!

Do you think you have what it takes to run a football club, from handling finances, engaging with fans, travelling up and down the country on a cold winter Tuesday evening?

If that sounds like you, then the perfect opportunity may have landed your way!

East Yorkshire seaside club Bridlington Town A.F.C. has been put up for sale by the owner who has reluctantly listed the club on the market after 20 years in charge.

The ‘Seasiders’ who currently compete in the Northern Premier League East Division, were formed in 1920 carrying a huge history.

Pete Smurthwaite, took over in 2004, with the club facing more than £130,000 of debt.

Mr Smurthwaite said: “I’m losing the energy to run a club at this level – it’s quite a high standard and it’s just incredible how much work goes into it.

“For the first time, I’m looking after myself, I’m not getting younger and I’m ready for a change,”

The chairman, 74, described the club as ‘debt-free’ and in a ‘good’ financial situation.

The prospective buyer for the club will take on the leasehold of Queensgate Stadium which boasts of a 2,800 capacity.

‘The club occupies a very well maintained stadium. There is a detached, licensed bar with a function room and multi screen TVs, and a large terrace looking onto the stadium.’

Back in 2018, the chairman said: “I would put a sale price of £125,000.00 for the club which would be exceptional value for money.”
