Four Real Madrid players have been arrested and are being investigated in regards to an alleged ‘sex video’ that involved a minor, it has been reported.
Reports from the Spanish capital suggest that three players from Real Madrid’s squad were arrested on Thursday, with a fourth now also being investigated.
The mother of the underage girl reported the offence to police in the Canary Islands, leading to the subsequent arrests.
It is also reported that none of the players involved were minors, but have been released after data from mobile phones was investigated.
The local police have said that the sexual relations between the victim and the Real Madrid players was consensual, however a video taken of the encounter was recorded without her knowledge, which is a serious offence.
The video was then allegedly shared amongst the other players involved, also an offence of a very serious nature.
Real Madrid released a statement regarding the situation, saying that four of their youth team players had been arrested “in connection with a complaint about an alleged release of a private video via Whatsapp”
The player’s names have not been released at this time, although it has been reported that they were all detained at Real Madrid’s training complex whilst police investigate.
This latest scandal within Spanish football comes hot off the heels of Luis Rubiales’ resignation as Spanish FA president amid the ongoing uproar over his FIFA Women’s World Cup kiss at a time of great turbulence for the footballing nation.
It is yet to be reported whether or not charges will be held against the four Real Madrid players involved.
