Victor Osimhen could take legal action over ‘unacceptable’ TikTok video

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and his agent, Roberto Calenda, have threatened legal action against the club following the posting of a controversial TikTok video.

The incident has raised questions about the relationship between the player and the club, adding fuel to recent tensions between Osimhen and Napoli’s manager, Rudi Garcia.

The controversial Victor Osimhen TikTok video

The controversy began when Napoli’s official TikTok account posted a video that appeared to mock Victor Osimhen.

The video showcased a clip of the Nigerian striker’s recent penalty miss during a match against Bologna.

What made matters worse was the inclusion of an odd, sped-up voice dubbed over the clip, seemingly ridiculing the player’s performance.

Roberto Calenda’s Response

Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, wasted no time in expressing his outrage on social media. He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice his concerns and condemn the club’s actions.

In his tweet, Calenda stated, “What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable.

A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted.” He went on to describe the incident as a “serious fact” that caused significant damage to the player.

Calenda also highlighted the media trials and fake news that Osimhen had been subjected to recently.

Furthermore, Calenda emphasized, “We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor.”

This strong statement indicates the seriousness with which Osimhen’s camp is approaching the issue and their determination to seek justice.

Tension with Manager Rudi Garcia

The controversy surrounding the TikTok video comes in the midst of growing tension between Victor Osimhen and Napoli’s manager, Rudi Garcia.

During a recent match against Bologna, Osimhen was seen berating Garcia as he was substituted with just four minutes remaining in a goalless draw.

While Garcia downplayed the incident, it added to the speculation about Osimhen’s relationship with the club.

Contract Uncertainty

Adding to the complexity of the situation is the fact that Victor Osimhen did not extend his contract with Napoli, which originally ran until 2025.

This decision has fuelled speculation about his future at the club, with reports linking him to a potential summer transfer.

Osimhen’s Remarkable Past Season

Victor Osimhen enjoyed a stellar season with Napoli the previous year, helping the team secure their first Serie A title in three decades.

The Nigerian striker’s contributions were invaluable as he netted 26 goals in Serie A and 31 across all competitions.

His performances had made him a fan favourite, and his contract situation has been closely followed by both Napoli supporters and the wider football community.
