Alexis Mac Allister to leave Brighton but remain in the Premier League

Argentinian World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister is set to leave Brighton this summer, with reports that he is looking to remain in the Premier League.

Mac Allister signed with The Seagulls in 2019, making his debut for the club as an 80th minute substitute away to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Since then, he has played 94 matches for the club and contributed 16 goals.

He also represented Argentina in the 2022 World Cup, playing in 6 matches, scoring a goal, and eventually lifting the World Cup trophy in his first ever tournament. It is no surprise then, that he has been a strong influence on Brighton’s attacking play in their 2022/2023 campaign.

According to reports from 90Min, Mac Allister is likely to be leaving the American Express Community Stadium this Summer but intends on continuing to play his football in the Premier League.

According to the report, Liverpool lead the chase for Mac Allister, with Tottenham, Chelsea and Newcastle United also keen on him. The Daily Mail have also reported that Manchester United have held talks with Brighton representatives over a move to Old Trafford in the summer, as Erik ten Hag looks to bulk out his side’s depth in the midfield.

Brighton CEO Paul Barber told talkSPORT that the club “don’t know” what will happen in regards to Mac Allister, but didn’t rule out his departure. The club will certainly miss the Argentine, who has had a remarkable season both domestically and with his national side. The Seagulls currently sit 8th position in the Premier League table, 10 points clear from being knocked out of the Top 10.
