Liverpool to raid Man City for ‘FLOP’ midfielder valued at £35m

Liverpool’s interest in signing Manchester City outcast Kalvin Phillips in a £35m deal this summer has left many fans surprised.

The Reds have identified the England international as a key target to bolster their midfield options ahead of next season.

The pursuit of Phillips comes after Liverpool was priced out of a move for Jude Bellingham, who is valued at an astronomical fee by Borussia Dortmund.

Jurgen Klopp is desperate to add depth and quality to his midfield, and Phillips is seen as the perfect fit.

It is understood that Liverpool has let it be known that Phillips is on their radar, and the 27-year-old is open to a move to Anfield.

The prospect of playing for a team that is consistently challenging for the Premier League and Champions League titles is undoubtedly appealing to Phillips, who has endured a difficult season at City.

Phillips joined City in a £50m deal from Leeds United last summer, and he was relishing the chance to play under Pep Guardiola.

However, his move to the Etihad has been nothing short of disappointing.

The midfielder has made only nine Premier League appearances this season, with his opportunities limited by the fierce competition for places in City’s star-studded midfield.

Phillips is a versatile midfielder who can play in a variety of positions, making him an attractive proposition for Klopp who needs someone who can stabilise the midfield.

The 27-year-old has also established himself as a key player for England, playing a pivotal role in the Three Lions’ run to the Euro 2020 final.
