Ilkay Gundogan ‘agrees’ Barcelona deal, he’s set to leave Man City

According to sources, Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is expected to join Barcelona on a free transfer this summer.

The 32-year-old German international’s contract with City will expire at the end of this season, and the Spanish giants are reportedly growing increasingly confident that they can lure him to Nou Camp.

City have reportedly offered Gundogan a new deal to stay at the club, but talks have made very little progress, and a move to La Liga now seems inevitable.

Despite the Premier League champions not wanting to lose him, manager Pep Guardiola is said to be a big admirer of Gundogan’s experience, leadership, and consistency.

Gundogan has been a loyal servant to City over the last seven years and was Guardiola’s first-ever signing as City boss in 2016.

The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder made a £20 million move to Manchester and has been an integral part of City’s success over the years.

The 32-year-old has reached the Champions League final twice and will be hoping he can go one step further and finally win the competition before he leaves City this summer.

He has been a key figure in Manchester City’s midfield, scoring crucial goals and providing assists on many occasions.
