Arsenal target Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni

Arsenal have reportedly set their sights on Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni as they continue to strengthen their midfield options.

According to a sensational report, the Gunners have added the French midfielder to their transfer shortlist, highlighting their interest in securing his services for the upcoming season.

While Arsenal are in advanced talks with West Ham over the signing of Declan Rice, they have identified Tchouameni as a second midfielder.

The North London club has been long-time admirers of the young midfielder and now appears keen on bringing him to the Emirates Stadium.

Tchouameni’s performances for Real Madrid last season were described as inconsistent, but it seems that club president Florentino Perez sees great potential in the Frenchman.

Reports suggest that Perez views Tchouameni as the centrepiece of the team for the upcoming campaign and has instructed manager Carlo Ancelotti to provide him with more playing time, specifically as part of a double-pivot midfield.

Comparisons have been drawn between Tchouameni and Real Madrid’s defensive midfielder Casemiro.

Perez reportedly believes that Tchouameni possesses the necessary qualities to fill Casemiro’s shoes in the future.

This endorsement from the club president highlights the high regard in which the player is held within the Real Madrid hierarchy.

It is worth noting that Real Madrid signed Tchouameni from AS Monaco for a reported fee of €100 million last summer.

With that in mind, Perez is unlikely to accept anything less than what they paid for the midfielder if Arsenal were to pursue his transfer.

The addition of Tchouameni would significantly bolster Arsenal’s midfield options, providing them with a talented and promising young player who has the potential to develop into a top-class midfielder.
