AC Milan interested in signing Man Utd star Mason Greenwood

Italian giants AC Milan are reportedly eyeing a potential move for Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood as the forward’s future at the club remains uncertain.

The 21-year-old has not played for United since being suspended by the club in January 2022, following allegations of attempted rape, actual bodily harm and coercive or controlling behaviour.

While the Crown Prosecution Service charged Greenwood in October, the charges were later dropped in February after ‘key witnesses’ withdrew their involvement.

However, United launched their own internal investigation into the allegations following the decision by the authorities to drop the charges.

The investigation is not expected to be completed until after the season has finished, leaving the forward in a state of limbo.

Despite Greenwood’s desire to return to playing for his boyhood club, there is no current timeframe on when United’s probe will end.

The uncertainty has led to several clubs across Europe expressing interest in signing the talented youngster, including AC Milan, who are reportedly keen to acquire his technical quality.

Greenwood, who is contracted with United until 2025 on wages reported to amount to £100,000 per week, has reportedly expressed interest in starting over, preferably abroad, as he looks to get his career back on track.

AC Milan, who have a storied history of nurturing young talent, may provide the perfect environment for the former England international to regain his form and confidence.

While Greenwood’s charges were dropped, his future at United has been a source of tension for some time.

Mason Greenwood will NOT return to Manchester United training this season

In January, the club reportedly turned down offers from Turkey for the forward, while the majority of the women’s team, who share the Carrington training base with the men, have voiced their desire to see him moved on.

Ultimately, the decision regarding Greenwood’s future rests with United, who will need to weigh the potential benefits of retaining the talented youngster against the potential risks and complications associated with the allegations.
