Tuchel set to make history as new England manager

Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is set to become the next England manager, replacing Gareth Southgate, who left the role after the conclusion of the European Championship last summer.

As reported by Sky Sports, Tuchel has agreed to become the next boss of the Three Lions and will officially be unveiled on Wednesday at Wembley Stadium.

The 51-year-old will become the third non-English man to take over the position, following the late Sven-Göran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.

Eriksson was in charge between 2001 and 2006, managing 67 matches and recording a 59.7% win percentage, while Capello was in charge between 2008 and 2012, superintending 42 games and recording a 66.7% win percentage.

Tuchel has been out of a job since leaving his position as Bayern Munich manager in May. He missed out on the Bundesliga title to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen side.

He started his managerial career at FC Augsburg before taking over at Mainz 05, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich.

The German tactician is considered to be one of the best managers in the world following his managerial success that has seen him win several titles, including the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League.

This would be his first time taking over a national team, and it remains to be seen whether he can replicate his success at the club level with England.
