History was made during Manchester City’s pre-season clash with AC Milan at the Yankee Stadium but not in the way you would have anticipated.
In front of a sellout crowd numbering 46,122 fans, fans were treated to a frenetic affair as they were treated to a five-goal thriller.
The Citizens opened the scoring through familiar face Erling Haaland in the 19th minute whose low finish couldn’t be stopped by Milan young shot-stopper Lorenzo Torriani.
Lorenzo Colombo restored parity for the Italian outfit at the half hour mark and he would be responsible for giving them the lead four minutes later.
A James McAtee header in the 55th minute put the Citizens back on level terms but his effort wasn’t enough to prevent the Premier League champions from suffering a second consecutive loss.
Marco Nasti’s effort gave the Rossoneri the victory in the 78th minute, putting a full stop into what was a breathtaking encounter.
As if the attacking flair displayed by the two European giants wasn’t enough, the fans were also blessed with a fascinating sight at the end of the first half.
In what was an historical moment, Manchester City changed from their home kit to their new third kit, launched last week while AC Milan also donned their new away kit for the first time.
This is MAD. Man City vs AC Milan was more than just a friendly last night, both teams swapped their kits out at Half- Time with Man City showing off their new third kit, and AC Milan unveiled their new Away kit for the 24/25 szn. What a way to unveil a new kit… 💫 @pumafootball pic.twitter.com/lfvbbAgftn

This was as a result of the “City and Milan for Change” initiative in association with PUMA organised in support of City and Milan for Change, a scheme created by both clubs and PUMA to inspire young footballers in New York.
Manchester City still have two games to be played while in the States, with games against Barcelona and Chelsea to come before their Premier opener against the Blues at the Stamford Bridge.
Milan still have games against Real Madrid and Barcelona before getting their Serie A campaign off to a start against Torino at the San Siro.
