Manchester United edge past Wolves at Old Trafford after late drama

Manchester United got off to a winning start in the new Premier League season after edging past Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford.

The only goal came from the most unlikely of sources, Raphael Varane who headed home an assist from fellow defender Wan-Bissaka in the 76th minute.

Man United did not make light work of Wolves as many would have expected, in-fact Wolves had their fair share of opportunities after Fabio Silva forced a save from new signing Andre Onana late on.

Manchester United did not look convincing all match and at times really struggled to inspire any attacks.

Wolves dominated the final 10 minutes and after waves of attacks, Wolves were denied what many felt was a ‘clear penalty’ after Onana came rushing off his line and hit the Wolves player.

The referee booked Gary O’Neil after his touchline rant.

The Red Devils next play on Saturday against Tottenham away from home.
