Vincent Kompany eyes Premier League talent for Bayern Munich revamp

Newly appointed Bayern Munich manager, Vincent Kompany, is wasting no time in identifying potential reinforcements for his squad, with Liverpool’s versatile defender Joe Gomez reportedly high on his wish list.

Gomez, 27, has just come off his best season with Liverpool, showcasing his ability to perform at centre-back, both full-back positions, and even as a holding midfielder. This adaptability makes him an attractive prospect for any top club.

Gomez’s resurgence at Liverpool has not gone unnoticed. Making 51 appearances in various roles, he has re-established himself as a key player for the Reds.

His performances earned him a recall to the England squad under Gareth Southgate, and he is currently in Germany preparing for England’s Euro 2024 opener against Serbia.

Liverpool’s decision to hand him a five-year contract in 2022 underscores his value to the club, aiming to keep him at Anfield until 2027.

Liverpool, however, are not keen to part with one of their most prized assets. Under new manager Arne Slot, Gomez is seen as a crucial component of the team’s future.

The Reds are expected to issue a firm hands-off warning to Bayern Munich, emphasizing their desire to retain the defender who has become integral to their plans.

The Bavarian giants are also reportedly interested in Chelsea’s Levi Colwill. The 21-year-old defender, though not part of England’s Euro 2024 squad, is highly rated and tied to Chelsea until 2029.

Like Liverpool, Chelsea are reluctant to sell, especially with new manager Enzo Maresca looking forward to integrating Colwill into his plans.

Additionally, Bayern are keeping tabs on Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, another potential reinforcement. Tah’s domestic experience and stature as a German international make him a viable option for Bayern as they look to solidify their backline.
