Manchester City Sign Iliman Ndiaye in £65m Deal After Hijacking Tottenham Move
Manchester City have completed the signing of Iliman Ndiaye from Everton in a deal worth up to £65m.
City will pay around £60m up front, with another £5m available in add-ons, and Ndiaye has signed a five-year contract at the Etihad.
It’s been a pretty crazy few days for the Senegal international.
Ndiaye had been on his way to Tottenham after Spurs agreed a deal with Everton, but Manchester City stepped in and changed everything.
The player ultimately chose City.
And now he’s heading to Manchester instead of North London.
For Tottenham, it’s a seriously frustrating one.
For City, they’ve added another attacking player to what is already becoming a very different-looking squad.
Ndiaye is comfortable playing across the front line and brings something a little different. He’s quick, good with the ball at his feet and capable of creating something out of nothing.
He also knows the Premier League well.
Before joining Everton, Ndiaye made his name at Sheffield United, helping them win promotion to the Premier League in 2023. He then spent a season at Marseille before returning to England with Everton in 2024.
His time at Everton really helped establish him as a serious Premier League player.
Last season he scored six goals for Everton, while also becoming an important part of their attack.
He has also represented Senegal at the 2022 and 2026 World Cups.
Now comes the biggest move of his career.
City have already been spending heavily this summer as they rebuild following Pep Guardiola’s departure and the arrival of Enzo Maresca.
Ndiaye is another piece of that rebuild.
And there’s an interesting little twist to the deal too.
Everton are now looking to bring Jack Grealish back on loan from City, meaning the two clubs could effectively be swapping attacking players at the same time.
For Ndiaye, though, the focus will simply be on making his mark at one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
He has gone from Sheffield United to Marseille, then Everton, and now Manchester City.
That’s quite a rise.
And after choosing City over Tottenham, he’ll be hoping the decision proves to be the right one.
£65m is a lot of money.
