Mikel Arteta teaches Arsenal squad tactical lesson with unorthodox plan

Mikel Arteta has taken his preparation with Arsenal for the new season to another level as he seeks to end Manchester City’s Premier League dominance.

The Spaniard tactician is known for his meticulousness and that was demonstrated last season when perfected his side’s set pieces routine which ensured they finished the season with the most goals scored from set pieces.

Incredibly, Arteta has decided to creatively teach his Arsenal players how to be more alert to situations during games which he did by the hiring of professional pickpockets.

During a dinner with the squad, the players present were caught unawares as the pickpockets unbelievably emptied the pockets and they only found out they had been robbed when Arteta asked them to confirm if any of their belongings was missing.

The Gunners conceded 29 goals last season which was the fewest in the Premier League and exercise like this can only make them more frugal at the back.

Arteta is leaving no stone untouched in his quest to relinquish the Premier League title from his former employers Manchester City.

Italian international Riccardo Calafiori has been signed to boost the defensive ranks and the North London club want to bolster the midfield with the addition of Spain international Mikel Merino.

There have also been talks of the club waiting to sign a striker with Victor Osimhen who has been heavily linked with Chelsea and Viktor Gyöker being the two of the strikers linked with the club.

Arsenal will get their campaign underway on August 17 when they play host to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates.
