Man Utd fear that Antony’s injury is a recurring ankle problem

Manchester United fear that their winger Antony may have suffered a recurrence of the ankle injury that sidelined him for the final two months of last season with his former club, Ajax.

The talented Brazilian forward was taken off the field on a stretcher, visibly distressed after a seemingly innocuous challenge during the team’s recent victory against Chelsea.

Antony, 23, endured a frustrating period last season when he missed the last eight games of Ajax’s 2021-22 campaign due to the initial ankle injury.

The injury was sustained while on international duty, representing Brazil in a World Cup qualifier in March 2022.

After joining Manchester United in September for a hefty £81 million transfer fee, Antony managed to score eight goals for the club.
