Cole Palmer snubbed by Chelsea teammate in top 10 list

Cole Palmer has been snubbed by teammate Noni Madueke, in the top 10 list of most skilled players at Chelsea.

Palmer was the standout player for the Blues last season, notching 25 goals and 15 assists across all competitions and was unsurprisingly named the club’s Player of the Season.

He was also named the Premier League Young Player of the Year and PFA Fans’ Player of the Year, being the first Chelsea player to scoop the latter award since Eden Hazard did the same in 2019.

The England international could win more awards for his performances from last season as he is in contention to win the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and the PFA Young Player of the Year.

Despite being Chelsea’s biggest match-winner, he is not regarded as one of the most skilled players at the club, according to Madueke.

Speaking on one of Blues’ official channels, Madueke ranked the most skilled players at the club, with Raheem Sterling ranked number one.

Other players named in the ranking were Nicolas Jackson(2nd), Malo Gusto(3rd), Moisés Caicedo(4th), Reece James(5th), Benoît Badiashile(6th), Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall(7th), Wesley Fofana(8th), Renato Viega(9th), Tosin Adarabioyo(10th).

Chelsea have rewarded Palmer for his last season’s contribution by handing him a two-year contract extension with his current deal now set to expire in 2033.

Under the tutelage of new manager Enzo Maresca, the 22-year-old is expected to play a starring role this campaign which starts with a clash against Manchester City on Sunday at the Stamford Bridge.

Unlike Palmer, there is uncertainty regarding the future of Madueke who is being linked with a move to Newcastle and Chelsea are reportedly ready to let him leave for not less than £28.5m
