An early look at New York City FC’s planned NEW stadium in Queens!

MLS side New York City FC have released a preview of a rendering of how their brand new stadium in Queen’s is set to look, garnering mixed reviews from fans of the club.

New York City FC are currently 5th place in the MLS standings, having earned 15 points from their opening 11 games. The club currently play their home fixtures at the legendary Yankee Stadium, but have had plans to separate from their baseball connection for a while now.

The reasons for wanting a stadium of their own seem fairly obvious – scheduling 2 major sporting teams events alongside one another can be a logistical nightmare, especially when those teams play 2 different sports.

Hok & Turner Construction Company have been commissioned to create the new stadium for NYCFC, and it will be New York City’s very first “soccer-specific” stadium.

The club recently took to Twitter to share exciting new renderings for the proposed stadium with fans, and it has garnered mixed opinions.

Many fans are clearly impressed with the proposed designs from Hok & Turner, with the excitement of having their own stadium to call home apparent.

However, as with almost anything placed on the internet for the scrutinisation of fans, there are also many who haven’t held back voicing their disappointment about the new design.

Mixed opinions are certainly nothing new when it comes to testing the waters with fans, and Hok & Turner will no doubt be paying attention to the feedback from supporters of New York City FC.

Take a look at the proposed new stadium designs below and let us know whether you think it is something that the club will be proud of having built!
