Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya’s face looked completely different years ago and there’s a reason for it.
On the 27th of October 2018, Blackburn Rovers faced West Brom at the Hawthorns, a match which featured a young David Raya in goal for Blackburn.
In the 82nd minute, a horrible collision happened between West Brom striker Jay Rodriguez and Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper David Raya.
The Spaniard came rushing out of his goal only to collide with Rodriguez, diving at the striker’s feet.
Describing the incident:
“The players were feeling sick with what they saw,” said the Rovers boss.
“He is in hospital. The bone at the top has been pushed into the skull almost and the nose is sort of hanging off really.”
David Raya had to go to hospital and have facial reconstruction and surgery on his nose.
Now, you can notice the difference from before the incident to the present day.
The damage was so bad, the players could not even look at it!
