As the Premier League season kicks off, fans across England are preparing for weekends filled with football and the customary pint at the stadium.
However, the cost of enjoying a beer while watching the match varies significantly depending on where you’re seated. A recent survey reveals that the price of a pint at Premier League grounds can differ by more than double, with some surprising results.
Arsenal and West Ham Top the List
At the top of the price list, Arsenal and West Ham fans face the steepest beer prices. A pint at either the Emirates Stadium or the London Stadium will set supporters back a hefty £6.30.
This price is not only the highest in the Premier League but also reflects the general trend of rising costs in London, where four of the five most expensive stadiums are located.
Leicester City: A Costly Surprise
One of the more unexpected entries in the top tier of beer prices is Leicester City. Despite being outside the capital, the King Power Stadium charges £5.80 per pint, making it the third most expensive in the league.
This puts Leicester ahead of some of the league’s biggest clubs in terms of beer prices, adding a costly edge to matchdays for Foxes fans.
London Clubs Dominate the High End
Following Leicester, Chelsea and Fulham round out the top five, with pints at Stamford Bridge costing £5.70 and at Craven Cottage £5.50, respectively.
Tottenham Hotspur isn’t far behind, with their fans paying £5.10 per pint. Given the high living costs in London, it’s perhaps no surprise that the city’s clubs dominate the upper echelon of beer prices.
Mid-Table Pricing
In the middle of the pack, clubs like Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, and Southampton charge around £5 per pint, a price that reflects a balance between affordability and the realities of stadium operations.
Aston Villa’s £5 pints place them squarely in mid-table, while Crystal Palace matches this price point at Selhurst Park.
Brentford and Ipswich Town: London’s Best Bargain and Beyond
Brentford offers a pleasant surprise for London-based fans looking for a more affordable option. At £4 per pint, the Gtech Community Stadium offers the cheapest beer among the capital’s Premier League clubs.
Meanwhile, Ipswich Town, newly promoted to the Premier League, provides an even more budget-friendly option at £3.50, making it the second cheapest in the league.
Manchester United: The Cheapest Pint in the Premier League
Manchester United emerges as the surprise package in this beer price ranking. Despite their global status and massive fanbase, Old Trafford boasts the cheapest pint in the Premier League at just £3.
This pricing policy, which was introduced in 2021 following discussions with fan representatives, has made matchdays at Old Trafford more affordable.
It’s a move that has been well received by supporters, especially in a time where the cost of living is a significant concern for many.
