Born into a family of footballers, earns more than Mainoo- meet Tottenham’s rising star Archie Gray

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Archie Gray is one of the most promising players in the Premier League.

Gray started his career with Leeds United, where he progressed through the youth ranks to the first team, grasping the attention of the club’s former manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Having caught Bielsa’s attention, an agreement was struck between his high school and Leeds United for him to miss classes to train with the first team.

He made his senior debut against Cardiff City in the opening Championship fixture in the 2023/2024 campaign and made 44 appearances for the Whites.

Having seen his mercurial talent on display for Leeds, Tottenham, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Manchester United were all linked with him.

Spurs won the signature of the youngster, having snapped him ahead of other suitors for a fee reported to be close to £40m.

He signed a six-year contract, and he is earning £75,000 per week salary, which is higher than that of Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.

The Leeds Academy product is only second behind Manchester United’s Leny Yoro on the Premier League’s highest-earning teenager chart.

Gray made his debut for the North London side in their Premier League opening fixture against Leicester City and has now featured in six games across all competitions.

The 18-year-old can play as a midfielder and can also do a good job as a right-back, having demonstrated that in Spurs’ 3-1 win over Brentford last month.

When playing as a right-back, he has the burst of speed to beat his markers, pick a pass, and is a good dribbler as well.

Despite looking lightweight, he has got the skillet to play as a pivot in the midfield with his ability to shield the ball from the opposition worthy of mention.

Gray comes from a family of footballers, as his dad Andy used to play for Leeds, same as his grandfather, while his younger brothers also play in Leeds Academy.
