16-year-old striker Chido Obi-Martin, incredibly rejected Arsenal’s incredible amount of wages from Arsenal to stay at the club to join Manchester United, according to Allnigeriasoccer.
The Denmark Youth International has announced his departure through his social media account, having spent four years at the club, during which he has become one of the most sought-after teenagers in Europe, with Bayern Munich an Borussia Dortmund also credited with an interest in him.
Obi-Martin first came into the limelight when he scored a whopping 10 goals for Arsenal U16s against Liverpool last October and went on to become a key figure for Jack Wilshere-led U-18 side.
With 32 goals in the U18 Premier League last season, he became the outright top scorer in a season for the Gunners, smashing Folarin Balogun’s record of 25.
The North London club moved swiftly to retain the services of the talented striker, offering him a two-in-one deal contract; a scholarship and a professional contract but he rejected the club’s advances.
As revealed by Allnigeriasoccer, he was also offered an astonishing £15,000 but that wasn’t enough to persuade the Glostrup-born who has now decided to join fellow Premier League giants and rival Manchester United.
The Red Devils have decided to double the wages offered to him by Arsenal and he is now on the verge of joining the Manchester-based side, a move that hasn’t gone down well with some Gunners’ faithful.
