South Korea vs Portugal: Match preview, team news and predictions

South Korea and Portugal are set to face each other at 3pm today in the final match of Group H.

South Korea are currently sitting 3rd in the group on just ONE point with a -1 goal difference whilst their opponents Portugal are already through to the last 16 thanks to their 2-0 victory over Uruguay in their 2nd match.

The pair have only met each other ONCE before and that ended in a 1-0 victory for South Korea at the World Cup in 2002 which was hosted in their country.

South Korea vs Portugal: Team news

South Korea will not be able to use Hwang Hee-chan in this game due to his ongoing hamstring problem.

Son Heung-min will be a certain starter in this game and he will be set to earn his 107th cap for his country.

Portugal defender Nuno Mendes has been RULED OUT for the rest of the tournament after he picked up an injury against Uruguay in their last match.

Danilo is also out with fractured ribs, Otavio is also a major doubt.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a 50/50 doubt for the match after missing Portugal’s training session on Wednesday.

Match Predictions:

Due to Portugal already going through and with many players going to be rested for the next round, we believe it will be a closer game than people will imagine.

Son Heung-min always remains a goal threat for South Korea but we cannot see many goals in this one due to the defensive duo of Pepe and Ruben Dias.

Our prediction: South Korea 1-1 Portugal
