Sánchez, Raya, Alisson, Onana:Premier League best shot-stopper revealed?

Shot-stopping is one of the most important skills of a goalkeeper and with the Premier League blessed with the likes of Alisson Becker, Robert Sánchez, Andre Onana, David Raya and others, let us find out the best shot-stopper in the division this term

Raya has saved 80.6% of the shots he has faced, the third-best record in the league.

The Spain international is an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s side and will need to keep playing at his best if Arsenal are to end their long drought for the title.

He has three clean sheets in seven games so far and has conceded six goals.

With a save percentage of 80.5%, Sánchez is the fourth-best shot-stopper in the league this season and has repaid the faith of his manager, Enzo Maresca.

He was the hero for Chelsea during their last Premier League with Nottingham Forest, keeping his second shutout of the campaign with his performance in between the sticks.

Nottingham Forest’s Matz Sels is the fifth-best shot-stopper, managing to save 76% of the shots he has faced, and this may have been helped by his heroics in goal against Chelsea.

The 32-year-old made some spectacular saves to make sure 10-man Forest left Stamford Bridge within a point, taking his clean sheet figure to two in the process.

The goalkeeper with the best save percentage so far is Liverpool star Alisson, who has an incredible 88.2%.

Besides his save percentage, he has also kept the joint-most clean sheets, which is four, the same as Manchester United’s Andre Onana.

Unfortunately, the Brazil international suffered an injury during the Reds’ fixture with Crystal Palace and will be unable to continue his fantastic start to the season in the coming weeks.

Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope completes the top five as he boasts of an 81.1% save percentage, which is only bettered by Alisson

According to Whoscored.com, Pope has a save percentage rate of 81.1% which is the second highest in the English top-flight.

However, the England international has just two clean sheets this term, no thanks to Newcastle’s shaky defence.

Onana is far behind the ditto players, with his 70.4% save percentage being the 10th best in the league, though he has the joint-most clean sheets with Alisson.
