Man United close to beating Real Madrid to sign Lenny Yoro!

According to The Athletic, Man United are on the verge of beating Real Madrid to the signing of Lenny Yoro, with Lille having accepted their €62m offer for the French youngster.

The Lille centre-back is expected to arrive in the UK soon for a medical, as the Red Devils sort out other details involved in getting his signature from Ligue 1 side Lille.

United have been in the market for a centre-back for a while, and were initially in the race to sign Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice, but were by blocked by Uefa’s multi-club ownership rules as a result of Jim Ratlciffe’s ownership of the Ligue 1 side.

Having failed in their pursuit of Todibo, United shifted their focus to his fellow countryman, Lenny Yoro, who impressed for Lille last season, featuring in 37 games across all competitions.

The 18-year-old French centre-back also currently represents his nation at U23 level, and enjoyed UEFA Conference League football with Lille last season.

Yoro also caught the attention of Real Madrid and had appeared to be prepared to join the Spanish giants, but things seemingly fell through when the Spanish giants weren’t ready to match Lille’s valuation of €62 million for the young centre-back.

One fan who will no doubt be especially happy with United’s rumoured new signing is English influencer Harry Pinero, who played for Youtube Allstars in their 2022 charity match with Sidemen FC.

Pinero released a screenshot onto his social media of him begging the French defender to join the club, with his wish seemingly being granted!

If all goes to plan, Yoro will become Manchester United second signing under INEOS and Jim Ratcliffe, with their first signing confirmed just last week since the takeover began!
