Everton takeover could see Southgate replace under-fire Dyche

According to talkSPORT, Everton’s takeover by Dan Friedkin could see Sean Dyche lose his position as the club’s Chief Tactician with Gareth Southgate being lined up as his replacement.

Farhad Moshiri has accepted Friendkin’s offer to take over the Merseyside-based side but the completion relies on the approval of the Premier League and the Financial Conduct Authority.

John Textor, who was hoping to ally with American rapper Jay-Z, was in pole position to take over, but he has found it difficult to sell his shares at Crystal Palace and this has paved the way for Friedkin whose arrival may now signal the end of Dyche’s reign as the Toffees’s boss.

The 53-year-old arrived at Goodison Park in January 2023, after Frank Lampard was sacked after a poor string of results which put Everton at risk of losing the Premier League status.

He also managed to help them escape relegation last term but has been unable to improve the fortunes of the club this season, having failed to secure a single victory which could now cost him his position if Friedkin completes his club takeover.

The American businessman is considering Southgate who is without a job since his departure as England boss as a replacement.

Southgate is no stranger to club football management as he was in charge of Middlesbrough for three years, after which he became the Three Lions boss.
