Pep Guardiola asked if his success at Man City will be judged on whether he wins the Champions League

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is widely regarded as one of the best coaches in modern football. Since taking over the reins at Manchester City in 2016, Guardiola has won a plethora of domestic titles, including FOUR Premier League titles, an FA Cup, and FOUR League Cups.

However, one thing that has eluded the Spaniard since his arrival at the club is the UEFA Champions League title.

Guardiola, who won the Champions League twice as a coach with Barcelona, has been under intense pressure to deliver the trophy at Manchester City.

In a press conference held earlier today ahead of his team’s clash against RB Leipzig, Guardiola made it clear that he believed his success at the club would be judged solely on whether he could win the Champions League.

Manchester City, who have one of the best squads in world football, have been widely tipped as one of the favourites to win the Champions League this season but this is so surprise as the same thing happens every season, City are favourites but then fall at the final hurdle.

When asked if the ultimate test of his tenure at Manchester City would be to lift the coveted trophy, Pep responded with a simple ‘yes.’ It was a clear indication that the coach is aware of the expectations surrounding his team and the pressure that comes with it.

However, Guardiola is not taking anything for granted and knows that every game in the competition is a potential banana skin. The coach was keen to emphasize the importance of tomorrow’s game against RB Leipzig, describing it as a “final” for his team.

Manchester City head into the game as favourites against RB Leipzig, but Guardiola has warned against complacency.

Guardiola knows that anything can happen in football and that his team must stay focused and not take anything for granted.

While Manchester City have been dominant in domestic competitions, winning the Champions League remains the ultimate goal for the club and its fans.

Guardiola knows that he must deliver on this front to be considered a true success at the club, and tomorrow’s game against RB Leipzig presents an opportunity for him to take a step closer to achieving that goal.
