The Women’s Euro 2025 qualifying draw took place on the 5th of March, as European teams held their breath to se how their schedules would play out. But who plays who?
The draw took place on the 5th of March in Nyon, Switzerland – and here are how the groups played out!
Women’s Euro 2025: League A
Group A1
Group A1 consists of Netherlands, Norway, Italy, and Finland.
Both Netherlands and Norway are each a part of only 5 teams to have previously won the competition, with Norway taking the 1987 & 1993 Championships, and Netherlands claiming victory over Europe in 2017.
The Dutch women will be the betting favourites to win the group, ranking 7th in FIFA’s world rankings, with Italy following up in 14th and 16th places respectively.
Group A2
Group A2 sees Spain, Belgium, Denmark, and Czechia face off against one another in the first stages of the competition.
None of these sides have no the competition before, however the Danish ladies did come runners-up to Netherlands in 2017.
Spain will, however, be the betting favourite in this group, with La Roja ranking No1 in the FIFA world rankings.
Group A3
Group A3 will be competed by title holders England, alongside France, Sweden, and the Republic of Ireland.
The Three Lionesses will of course be the bookies’ favourite to take the mantle of group leaders, having triumphed in the previous instalment of the competition in 2022.
Group A3 may well be the most hard-fought group, however, with England, France, and Sweden making up 3 of the 4 European sides in the top 5 of the FIFA World rankings!
Group A4
The final group in League A, Group A4, will consist of Germany, Austria, Iceland, and Poland.
The German ladies will of course be expected to top this particular group, having won the competition more times than any other nation – 7 as a unified Germany and once as West Germany.
The Germans took the title 5 times consecutively in 1997, 2001, 2005, 2009, and 2013, and came runners-up to England’s Three Lionesses in 2022.
League B
Group B1
Group B1 comprises of Switzerland, Hungary, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.
None of these nations rank in the top 20 of FIFA’s world rankings, so this group could be a real dark horse to keep an eye on! This will, however, be a race between only 3 of the 4 horses!
The Swiss, currently ranking in 22nd, will automatically proceed to the opening stages of the main tournament, being the hosts of the 2025 competition.
Group B2
The second part of League B will see Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, and the state of Israel battle it out for a spot in the main competition.
The Scottish ladies will have the odds in their favour, ranking 25th in FIFA’s world rankings, a full 11 places ahead of Serbia who would be second favourites in the group.
Group B3
Portugal, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Northern Ireland, and Malta make up Group B3.
Portugal are way ahead of any of their competition in terms of FIFA rankings, sitting in 21st place – 25 places ahead of Northern Ireland, their closest ranking rivals.
Group B4
Group B4 sees Wales, Ukraine, Croatia, and Kosovo matchup for a place in the main tournament.
The Welsh ladies sit just a single spot above those of Ukraine in FIFA’s world rankings, currently ranked in 32nd place.
Croatia rank 58th, with Kosovo all the way down in 102nd place – for those of you planing your accas!
League C
Group C1
Group C1 consists of Belarus, Georgia, Lithuania, and Cyprus.
None of these teams come anywhere near the top 50 in FIFA’s world rankings, however Belarus currently sit above the rest of their competition in League C’s first group.
Group C2
Slovenia, Latvia, North Macedonia, and Moldova make up the Group C2.
Slovenia’s 44th lace in the FIFA world rankings gives them the betting edge over the completion, with North Macedonia coming behind in 68th position on that same chart.
Group C3
Group C3 will see Greece, Montenegro, Andorra, and Faroe Islands face off for their spot in the 2025 tournament.
Montenegro are the only side currently ranking inside of the top 100 of FIFA’s world rankings, placing 72nd as they go into the Women’s Euro 2025 qualifying matches!
Group C4
The penultimate group of League C sees Romania, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, and Armenia battle it out for a spot in Euro 2025.
Romania will have the betting odds on their side in this group, currently sitting in 45th place in the FIFA world rankings.
Bulgaria are their closest ranking opponents in 83rd place, followed by Armenia in 94th and Kazakhstan in 100th.
Group C4
The final group in League C will consist of Albania, Estonia, and Luxembourg.
Luxembourg and Albania currently rank 85th and 64th in FIFA’s world rankings, with Luxembourg not breaching the top 100.
When does the women’s Euro 2025 qualifying begin?
Match day 1 and 2 of the Women’s Euro 2025 qualifying will be played between the 3rd and the 9th of April 2024.
Match days 3 and 4 will take place between the 29th of May and the 4th of June 2024.
Match days 5 and 6 will take place between the 10th and 16th of July 2024.
The playoff draw will be made on the 19th of July 2024, with Round One being played between the 23rd and the 29th of October, and Round Two between the 27th of November and the 3rd of December.
The Women’s Euro 2025 Finals draw will take place on the 16th of December 2024, with the tournament being played between the 2nd and the 27th of July 2025.
