Liverpool agree first Summer deal!

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have reportedly agreed their first signing of the Summer transfer window, with the side said to be looking to make major changes to their squad.

The Reds have made an early start on what is forecast to be a hectic transfer period, with chiefs at the club, including manager Jurgen Klopp, keen on a major upheaval of their squad going forwards.

Liverpool’s newest agreed deal is said to be worth £800,000 and would involve bringing a 14-year-old centre-back to the club’s academy.

Klopp is reportedly set to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers wonderkid, Harvey Owen, a player who apparently comes highly-rated by Yaya Toure. The ex-Man City man gave Owen his seal of approval after Wolves’ academy played Tottenham’s academy, where Toure is a coach.

Wolves academy coach, Wes Hughes said “We recently played at Tottenham and he had a nice pat on the back from an ex-player in Yaya Toure. He personally went up to Harvey and said that he had a lot of potential and would be a really good player in the future, so I think he’ll be really proud of that.”

Owen has impressed in his time at Wolves academy, often playing among the higher age teams. He was recently involved in the U15’s Youth Cup, which the side managed to reach the semi-finals in. At the time, Owen has just 13.

Liverpool do have a history of drafting in some of the country’s finest young talent, with the club purchasing 16-year-old Celtic hotshot Ben Doak for £600,000 just last year.

Liverpool’s academy has been responsible for some exquisite defending talent in the, producing stars such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, so it will be interesting to see how Owen’s game grows once he becomes a part of Anfield’s youth side. Having the endorsement of Yaya Toure on your side can’t be a bad way to start though!
