Ex Crystal Palace player ARRESTED over £1 million meth haul!

An ex-Crystal Palace academy player has been arrested in South London for an alleged haul of crystal meth worth over £1 million!

A spokesperson for Scotland Yard said that there was almost 20kg of the drug in the player’s holdall when they apprehended him.

They also added “An estimated £1 million worth of crystal meth has been seized by police after a drugs warrant was carried out at a flat in Croydon on February 14.”

“A 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene and later charged with possession with intent to supply a class A drug.”

“The arrest was part of ongoing work to disrupt and prevent serious violence in Croydon.”

Who is the former Crystal Palace player in question?

The player in question was 32 year old Michael Boateng, a former Crystal Palace academy player.

The Peckham-born former right back was arrest on Valentine’s Day, and made a Magistrates court appearance just 2 days later.

Boateng took to the dock for less than a couple of minutes, only to confirm his name, age, and address

He did not indicate whether he intended to plead guilty or not guilty to the offence, and has been remanded back into custody until a full hearing will take place in Croydon Crown Court on March 15th.

This is not the first time that the former Crystal Palace player has been on the wrong side of the law, either.

Michael boateng, a former Crystal Palace academy player has benign trouble with the law before for match fixing.

Boateng became the first player since the 1960s to be arrested and charged with match fixing in the British game, and was handed a 16 month sentence and a lifetime ban from football back in January 2015 as a result.

The former Crystal Palace player, who also had stints with Sutton United and Bristol Rovers, is being charged with possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply as a result of the 20kg of methamphetamine that Scotland Yard officers found on him.
