Benjamin Mendy trial: Jury doesn’t have to AGREE on unanimous verdict

Jurors in the trial of rape-accused footballer Benjamin Mendy can return a majority verdict, a judge has ruled.

The suspended Manchester City defender has been on trial at Chester Crown Court since 10 August after various allegations of sexual assault against numerous young women.

Mendy has denied SEVEN counts of rape against FOUR women, one count of attempted rape by a fifth woman and one count of sexual assault against a sixth woman.

Benjamin Mendy has been described as a “predator” by the prosecutors on the case.

Both Mendy, 28, and his friend Louis Saha Matturie, 41, have both denied all offences and said any sex they had with women was consensual.
