Ivan Toney left Brentford for Al-Ahli before the closure of this summer’s transfer window, and you will be shocked at where he is ranked among the highest English-paid players.
Toney was primed to join one of the Premier League giants after netting 20 goals in 33 games but after getting involved in a betting scandal which ruled him out for most of last season, he lost his hype.
The 28-year-old scored just four goals on his return to action, though he made the cut for the England team for the 2024 European Championship.
He was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur but the North London club opted to sign Dominic Solanke in a club-record deal.
Chelsea were also credited with an interest but it later became obvious that the West London club were focused on signing Victor Osimhen.
Eventually, Al-Ahli grabbed his signature with a reported £40m fee and the England international signed a four-year deal with the Saudi-Arabian side.
According to reports, Toney will earn £403,000 per week which will make him the second highest-earning English player with only Harry Kane who is on £406, 614 salary on higher salary.
His salary dwarfs that of Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham who earns £338, 791, Chelsea loanee Raheem Sterling who is on £325,000 and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford who receives £300,000.
