Man United have decided not to appeal the red card shown to Casemiro during their 0-0 draw against Southampton. The Brazilian midfielder was sent off in the first half after a strong tackle on Carlos Alcaraz, and will now miss United’s next four domestic games.
According to reports, the club has made the decision after weighing up their chances of being able to overturn the ban on appeal. It appears that Man United did not feel there was a high enough chance of success to justify the time and resources that would be involved in making an appeal against Casemiro’s recent red card and subsequent PL ban.

His suspension will start from Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Fulham, and will also see him miss Premier League games against Newcastle, Brentford, and Everton. However, he will be available for selection in United’s Europa League Round of 16 second leg clash against Real Betis on Thursday, with the ban only applying to domestic games.
Man United will undoubtedly miss the Brazilian’s presence in the midfield, with his absence having already been felt via suspension this season. His first stint away for misconduct came after he allegedly grabbed Crystal Palace’s Will Hughes around the neck in the second half of their match on February the 4th.
He served a 3-match ban for his part in the affray, which occurred following an altercation between United’s Antony and Palace’s Schlupp. Despite Casemiro placing his hand around Hughes’ neck, he was also pictured hugging the Palace midfielder almost immediately after. This led to debate as to whether the exchange between the pair had been misunderstood, with many feeling the Man United man may have been hard done by.

His most recent offence was a little more straightforward, with his poorly timed challenge on Alcarez being a clear cut red card. Man United are clearly in agreement, and are not going to be appealing Casemiro’s punishment as they prepare for 4 Premier League games without their key midfielder.
