Newcastle United’s midfielder, Sandro Tonali, finds himself in hot water as he faces charges of misconduct over suspected violations of the Football Association’s betting regulations.
The 23-year-old Italian international is currently serving a 10-month football suspension following similar infractions in his native country.
According to a statement released by the FA, Tonali is accused of contravening FA Rule E8 on 50 occasions by placing bets on football matches spanning from August 12, 2023, to October 12, 2023.
The FA has given Tonali until April 5, 2024, to provide a response to the allegations.
In response to the charges, Newcastle United issued a statement acknowledging the misconduct charge levelled against Tonali concerning alleged breaches of FA betting regulations.
