Arsene Wenger has said he is not interested in replacing Luis Enrique as Barcelona manager next season.
It has been less than 24 hours since Enrique announced he will be leaving the Catalan club at the end of the season, and already the rumour mill has been sent into overdrive. One of the names being mentioned is Wenger.
However Wenger quashed these rumours in a press conference this morning.
When asked about the vacant spot at Barcelona, Wenger said: “No, my preference has always been the same and will remain the same.”
“I am not looking for jobs in other clubs or jobs for other people. I am just focused on me getting to the next level and trying to improve.”
“I think (to be a) competent manager is to always try to improve and to see what you can do better. To reinvent yourself. That’s what I always try to do. That’s it, basically.”
With the fans once split down the middle about Wenger, again, and his contract expiring at the end of the season, it’s understandable to see why the Frenchman has been linked with the Barca hot seat.
