Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne.. Chelsea seem to have a habit of not giving young Belgian’s game time only to regret it in the future. Could the same be happening with Michy Batshuayi?

The 23 year-old who has already got 9 caps and 3 goals for his country is struggling for game time under Antonio Conte. Batshuayi is currently behind the inform Diego Costa but even when Costa has been injured or suspended this season, Conte has chosen to play an attacking midfielder up front rather than starting the Belgian.

Chelsea signed Michy Batshuayi from Marseille on 3rd July last summer for £33 million pounds, a large chunk of money that would make most presume that he would play an active role for Chelsea this season and in the long term. However, the opposite has been the case with the striker not starting a single Premier League game for Chelsea so far this campaign.

Positive Start

It didn’t always seem this way for the ex-Marseille frontman. After signing a five year contract, Batshuayi set up Costa’s winner against West Ham in Chelsea’s first league game of the season before scoring against Watford five days later. However since then, Batshuayi has been a rare sight on a football pitch and spends the majority of his time on the substitutes bench.

Summer Plans

So what’s next for Michy Batshuayi? Antonio Conte has always maintained that the striker is in his long term plans. However with Diego Costa having seemingly been convinced to stay at Chelsea as well as Tammy Abraham banging in goals for fun on loan at Bristol City, it is looking increasingly unlikely that Batshuayi has a future at the club.

Batshuayi seems to have spent more time on his infamous twitter account than on the pitch this season and with Chelsea being linked with numerous strikers, this doesn’t look like changing anytime soon.

Will Michy Batshuayi leave Chelsea in the summer permanently, will the club look to send him out on loan or will he turn things around and become a regular at Stamford Bridge, only time will tell. However the latter currently looks unlikely and I wouldn’t be surprised if you see Batshuayi heading for the exit as soon as possible.
